Photoshow

I chose to create a Photoshow. I chose to do his emergent technology because I love taking pictures. I think they're a great way to remember fun times that you've had. Photoshow is basically like an online photo album slideshow. You upload the images you would like to display and are able to personalize the slideshow. You may add music, captions, clip art, etc. to make the slideshow your very own. I found it useful because it's a great way to keep all of my pictures together and you can save it on the Photoshow website, incase your computer crashes you won't lose your pictures.

I found Photoshow to be VERY user friendly. I could see myself even using this for teaching some day, allowing the parents to see pictures of what their children are doing in the classroom. You must sign up to save a slideshow, but it's free. First, you upload the pictures of your choice from your computer. You can even take pictures straight from Photobucket or Facebook. Once you have uploaded them, there are layouts you can choose from. After you choose a layout, you may personalize your slideshow but it's not require. Even personalizing it is user friendly from the easy navigation to adding borders and captions. After you are satisfied with the slideshow, you may save it. Photoshow even allows you to post it directly to websites such as Blogger, iGoogle, etc.

Here's my example:

There really aren't many tips for this emerging technology. Patience is needed while uploading pictures because this can take some time. If you have a lot of picures in your slideshow, it may become frustrating going through each picture and adding captions. I would suggest only adding captions when necessary. Overall, I thought Photoshow was a great website! I love having all of my pictures in a slideshow and it would be perfect to use in the classroom to keep the parents updated.

My Experience with RSS

The 5 articles I chose were E News, iTunes new 25 songs, Blogger, Emerging Technology Trends, and Latest Education Articles. For E News, it gives me the top three stories about gossip and celebrities, which is exactly what I was looking for. When I click on the stories, it goes into more detail. iTunes gives me an updated list of 25 brand new songs which I find very convenient. Blogger shows me my posts which allows me easy access to my blogs. Emerging Technology Trends and Latest Education Articles both give me updated news and information on technology and education. I have never used an RSS feed nor known what it was, but I found this very helpful. There are many websites that I get on and check frequently, and by using iGoogle, all of my websites can be in one spot. This makes it easy to check the latest information in the things I'm interested in and it is so easy! I will definitely use this daily now that I know about it. I also never knew that it was possible to take snapshots of your computer screen. The hyperlink that was posted in Module 4 to help take a snapshot was not working, so I had to search for it myself. All you have to do it press "Alt" along with "Prnt Scrn" and you can paste it in a Word document. I thought this was really interesting! I learned a lot from this Module.
